Overview

The Manager, Virtual Events oversees the strategy for the operational execution for the virtual event offerings from ISACA Global. This person is also responsible for the management of virtual conferences hosted by ISACA, including coordinating cross-departmentally with staff and volunteers, logistical development, expense budget management and day-of and/or on-demand event execution. The position requires a team player with strong vendor management and leadership skills, who can efficiently progress multiple projects and drive effective collaboration between teams. This person should be able to think operationally, creatively and strategically to continuously provide improved and enhanced experiences for ISACA’s virtual event attendees.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the staff members that support virtual events on the Event Operations & Services team (the VEOS team). Responsible for establishing and maintaining the operations of the VEOS team members to execute all virtual events.
  • Overall management of the schedule of all virtual events; includes approximately 40-50 webinars and 4-6 Virtual Summits or Workshops annually, as well as the virtual conferences and the virtual delivery of any hybrid events.
  • Works closely with the Virtual Event Specialist to oversee the virtual experience for ISACA’s virtual conference & special event execution. Includes, but is not limited to, management of the expense budget, the development of the virtual program structure; advisement on the recommendation, sourcing and contracting of engagement tools and tactics and the platform design and layout; management of the virtual staff schedule and live day execution responsibilities
  • Management of the virtual platform vendor(s). Includes understanding the cross-departmental organization needs for virtual event experiences and working with the vendor to fulfill those in the best way possible. Maintains regular communication with the vendor to ensure we are implementing all product updates and continuously monitors billing. When necessary, lead the RFP to secure new vendors and negotiate the terms of the agreements.
  • Works in alignment with the product team on deliverables and strategy around the re-packaging and editing of any recorded sessions from conferences for additional revenue streams.
  • Leads the Virtual Event Steering Committee to facilitate cross-departmental discussion and decisions on the virtual programs. Ensures group is provided with data needed to drive effective decisions around content, timing, free vs. paid events, etc.
  • Communication and coordination with the Multimedia Productions (MMP) team for needs/schedule/staffing/budget/billing for any production needs for virtual events. Additionally, management of 3rd party production vendors as needed for services the MMP team cannot support. Oversee key tech runs and rehearsals, and coordinates with the production team on live day execution.
  • Work with team and Data Analyst to develop, maintain and analyze reports and metrics in order to make data-driven decisions and recommendations for successful virtual events.
  • Hires, trains, develops, and evaluates direct reports ensuring staff maintain and have opportunity to develop knowledge and skills necessary to drive ISACA’s success as well as their own. Provide coaching, guidance and accountability with direct reports and other team members as applicable.
  • Continuously researches industry trends and tools for effective virtual event experiences. Participates in professional development courses to ensure skills and knowledge are current and forward thinking.

     

  • Travel to conference for execution of Hybrid or Virtual aspects of the event

     

Qualifications

Required Field of Study:

  • Associates degree in event management, hospitality, marketing, communication, public relations, media, business administration or comparable field of study from an accredited university or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

Minimum Years of Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in a similar role or capacity, with a demonstrated record of success.

Description of Minimum Experience Required:

  • 6 years event/hospitality industry
  • 3 years of supervisory/management experience
  • 3 years virtual event execution
  • Experience in Event and ON24 virtual platforms

Preferred Field of Study:

  • BS or BA in Event Management or Hospitality Management from an accredited university or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

Preferred Years of Experience:

  • 8+ years event/hospitality industry
  • 4+ years management
  • 4+ years virtual event execution

Description of Preferred Experience:

  • Hospitality background
  • Project management
  • Association experience
  • Virtual platform knowledge, specifically ON24 & Cvent. Jira, Salesforce, Microsoft Office & Teams knowledge
  • Additional language skills a plus; particularly Spanish


Certification and Licensing Requirements Preferred:

  • CMP (Certified Meeting Planner)
  • DES (Digital Event Strategist)

Occasional travel may be required to attend company-sponsored events, meetings, or all-hands gatherings.
