Overview

This position is responsible for the management of exam development for assigned certification and certificate-based assessment programs, and any new programs as developed. Primary duties include the development of exam items and/or exams to include creation of repeatable processes and procedures; ongoing maintenance of, and adherance to, exam blueprints, exam delivery specifications, item quality assurance requirements,and other departmental metrics. The Exam Development Specialist III is also responsible for meeting management and assisting with volunteer recruitment related to the Certification Working Groups and SME support related to item writing and review for certificate programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the exam and item development lifecycle—including item writer and SME recruitment, training, review, quality assurance, contract coordination, and bank maintenance. Oversee both multiple-choice and performance-based exam processes.
  • Serve as primary exam development lead for assigned certifications, handling pre- and post-meeting QA, flagged item reviews, job practice updates, and documentation. Collaborate with vendors to ensure compliance with ISACA’s exam standards.
  • Plan and facilitate Certification Working Group and ad hoc meetings, including logistics, volunteer communications, orientations, agendas, minutes, budget tracking, and follow-up actions
  • Partner with Product Management, Content, and Credentialing teams to design, update, and maintain certification and certificate programs, ensuring item banks and exams remain current and aligned with strategy. Participate in related project meetings and report on deliverables
  • Support management of ISACA’s item banking and delivery platforms (Dimensions/AtlasCloud) by ensuring accurate metadata, access, workflows, and ECO integrations. Conduct UAT and provide system training/documentation..
  • Collaborate with leadership to recruit and engage diverse volunteers, manage participation cycles, and evaluate performance of Certification Working Groups and related volunteer initiatives.
  • Monitor exam performance data, candidate comments, and credentialing metrics to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Perform pre-launch content and functionality QA for exams and ensure timely completion of updates.
  • Serve as departmental backup for all programs and initiatives to ensure deliverables are met, to include administrative functions, exam modernization, and translation assistance.

Qualifications

Required Field of Study:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Business or related discipline from an accredited university or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

Minimum Years of Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a similar role or capacity, with a demonstrated record of success.

Preferred Field of Study:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Business or related discipline from an accredited university.

Preferred Years of Experience:

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in a similar role or capacity, with a demonstrated record of success.

Description of Preferred Experience:

  • Certification exam item development and editing
  • Knowledge of exam-level and item-level statistics
  • Volunteer engagement and facilitation in a professional association or nonprofit environment
  • Demonstrated business acumen and cross-cultural collaboration

Occasional travel (up to 5%) may be required to attend in-person volunteer working group meetings, company-sponsored events, meetings, or all-hands gatherings.

Posted Salary Range

USD $82,504.00 - USD $123,808.00 /Yr.
